Attention all Bluegrass Guitarists!
Bluegrass Champion Flatpicker, Greg Morton, will present weekly Bluegrass Guitar Lessons at the Music Club, starting Tuesday, October 12, from 11am - 12:30pm
This group lesson series is designed for Beginner through Intermediate players, taught by Greg Morton.
About Greg: There are not many folks alive who can say they’ve actually played with Bluegrass pioneers like Bill Monroe, Mother Maybelle Carter, Chet Atkins and Mark O’Connor, but Greg Morton is one of them.
A nationally recognized acoustic guitarist who makes playing blazing solos seem completely effortless, Greg has been gracing Tucson music stages ever since he moved here almost 20 years ago. Since then, he has headlined the Tucson Folk Festival and performs every Friday at La Cocina bringing his unique style and sound to “Bluegrass Fridays.
The four week course is designed to give participants a working knowledge of bluegrass chord progressions and flat picking concepts to help you advance your understanding of bluegrass music and improve your playing.
Here are just a few things participants will learn:
Learn how to play basic and advanced bluegrass rhythms
Right hand picking techniques and exercises
Learn walking bass lines that lead into chords
Explore intros, solos and ending licks
How to use chord shapes and a capo
Learn signature licks and runs used by the pros
How to practice and improve your playing skills with clarity, speed and accuracy.
Interactive play alongs to build confidence and skills
Learn new chords and progressions to enhance your playing skills and knowledge
Learn how to play music with others
Playing etiquette - when to play and when to comp
Plus, a Jam Session with all participants on November 9th
All lessons are held from 11am to 12:30pm on consecutive Tuesdays: October 12, 19, 26, Nov 2, plus a Bluegrass Jam for all participants held on November 9th
Cost for the four week course is $40 for Music Club members and $50 for non-members.
Class is limited to 25 participants.
